I know I have mentioned it here before but I am a very big fan of thrifting and all things old + used + otherwise forgotten. I picked up the habit in high school and it seemed to stick as tradition while in college. My friends and I were at the local Goodwill almost weekly each term, and some of my best fashion finds come from different eras.
Velvet is HUGE this season (see here) and for us late 90’s early 2000’s kids this winter trend reminds us of days in velvet dresses, matching bows, and mary jane flats as four year olds.
I spotted this dress in an isle at Goodwill and since I had holiday-ish events on the horizon for January, snagged it for $4.99. Its from 1998 and is very very vintage Neiman Marcus. I figured since the fit was off….I would have it tailored and ready by January.
Long story short it’s December and I still havent done anything with it….but I did throw it on with a festive scarf for a holiday tea so here is the perhaps ill-fitting photo evidence of that. If you happen to know a great seamstress in the Portland area I’m all ears!
